RECS (Running Event by Computer System) started operation in 1985 as Japan's first running race automatic timing system using the "Runners Chip" and has been handling time measurement primarily for running races for over 30 years.

In running competitions, the record is generally the 'gross time,' which is the time from when the starting gun sounds until passing the finish line; however, the 'Runners Chip' can measure the accurate 'net time,' from when you pass the start line to when you finish.
